August 12, 2025 - The Polish Handball Super Cup is coming up on August 30! Blockbuster matchups at Łódź’s Atlas Arena

On August 12, a press conference was held in the Small Market Square at Manufaktura in Łódź to announce the second edition of the Polish Handball Super Cup. On August 30, Poland’s top teams will face off for the trophy at Łódź’s Atlas Arena. This event will mark the start of the 2025/2026 season.

The press conference was divided into two parts. The first part featured remarks by Joanna Skrzydlewska, Marshal of the Łódź Province; Adam Wieczorek, Deputy Mayor of Łódź; and Piotr Należyty, President of Superliga sp. z o. o. During the press conference, details of this year’s Polish Super Cup, taking place in August, were presented. The second part of the conference featured the players who will compete for the trophy on August 30: Barbara Zima – KGHM Zagłębie Lubin, Aleksandra Rosiak – PGE MKS El-Volt Lublin, Dawid Dawydzik – ORLEN Wisła Płock, and Michał Olejniczak – Industria Kielce.

It has been five years since Anilana Łódź won the Polish Junior Championship. Piotr Jędraszczyk led the team to the gold medal. “I am proud that he now plays for the Polish national team and is on the roster of Industria Kielce, one of the two best men’s teams in Poland, which will compete for the Polish Super Cup on August 30 at Atlas Arena,”said Joanna Skrzydlewska, Marshal of the Łódź Province.

For the second time, Łódź will become the capital of club handball. Following the excitement of women’s volleyball, it is now time for the top women’s and men’s handball teams in our country to face off. Following last year’s success, I am convinced that this will once again be an exceptional event of the highest caliber. In addition to the matches for the prestigious trophy, one of the largest tournaments for children and youth—the Anilana Cup Super Cup—will also take place, held across six venues in Łódź. This is yet another event promoting handball in our city, following the Łódź Handball Festival in June, which brought together around 400 young players of this exceptional sport. “I cordially invite all residents and visitors to Atlas Arena to celebrate together and cheer on the best players,”says Adam Wieczorek, Deputy Mayor of Łódź.

Two top-level matches

The Polish Super Cup will kick off the season for the first time. It’s a great opportunity to see this summer’s biggest signings in action and assess the form of the top Polish teams representing our country in European competitions. This includes both the men’s teams, which are expected to be contenders for the Champions League final this season, and the women’s teams competing in the Europa League. This event combines top-level athletic competition with a rich program of attractions for fans, in the special Superpuchar Park Fan Zone, in the stands, and through various multimedia displays. We are also committed to promoting the sport among young people, which is why one of Poland’s largest tournaments, the Anilana Cup Super Cup, will take place concurrently over three days, featuring over a thousand young players. They will also take their seats in the stands of Atlas Arena during the Super Cup competition,” adds Piotr Należyty, President of Superliga sp. z o.o.

In the first match, at 2:30 p.m., the reigning Polish champions and ORLEN Polish Cup winners—KGHM Zagłębie Lubin—will take to the court. Facing off against the Copper Girls will be the Polish vice-champions—PGE MKS El-Volt Lublin, the most successful club in the history of Polish women’s handball, boasting as many as 22 national championship titles. This clash between two powerhouses of women’s handball promises intense excitement right from the opening whistle.

At 6:00 p.m., the giants will face off in the Polish Men’s Super Cup match. The current Polish champions and defending champions—ORLEN Wisła Płock, with nine league titles to their name—will take to the court. Their opponent will be the winner of the ORLEN Polish Cup—Industria Kielce, the most successful club in the history of Polish handball with 20 national championships and a Champions League victory to its credit. For years, these matches have electrified the entire Polish sports world and are synonymous with world-class competition, featuring a fierce battle for every goal right up to the final second.

With 2.5 weeks to go before the event, nearly 5,500 tickets have been sold. The Polish Super Cup is set to be the biggest event of the season in Polish club handball.

Plenty of attractions at the Super Cup Park Fan Zone

The Polish Super Cup isn’t just two top-level matches—it also features a range of other attractions that will be waiting for fans on August 30. These include multimedia shows, the chance to meet handball legends, a special Super Cup Park Fan Zone with handball courts, a wide range of food and drink options, and attractions for both children and adults. There will also be contests with prizes and charity initiatives. Just like in 2024, the upcoming edition of the Polish Super Cup is set to be a celebration and the biggest club handball event of 2025 in our country.

Training session for young children featuring members of the Polish national team

Following the press conference, a training session for children was held under the guidance of the players. The participants enjoyed special activities, numerous contests, a mini handball tournament featuring one-on-one matches, and the chance to test their accuracy at the shooting goal.
