“The Łódź Stand-up Challenge and the Great Łódź Roast”!
The biggest stars of Polish stand-up comedy will perform on November 3 at Atlas Arena during the first edition of the “Łódź Stand-up Festival, aka the Great Łódź Roast.” But before that happens, the Łódź Stand-up Challenge will take place on November 2 at Teatr Nowy.
The Łódź Stand-up Challenge is a competition for the best amateur stand-up act. The final will be hosted by Abelard Giza —a renowned stand-up comedian, screenwriter, and comedy writer—and entries will be judged by the crème de la crème of Polish stand-up: Łukasz “Lotek” Łodkowski and Kacper Rucinski. The winners of the competition will have the opportunity to perform during the grand finale of the Łódź Stand-up Festival on November 3 at Atlas Arena. To participate in the competition, send your entry in the form of videos lasting 5 to 7 minutes to: zgloszenia@lodzstandup.pl In addition to the chance to perform at the grand finale, the winners will receive cash prizes of 5,000 PLN, 2,000 PLN, and 2,000 PLN.
“An event like this could only happen in Łódź. Because we have a unique sense of humor about ourselves; we can laugh at ourselves and our city. The biggest stars of the Polish stand-up scene will take the stage at Atlas Arena, and they certainly won’t go easy on our city,” says Hanna Zdanowska, Mayor of Łódź. The premiere program, dedicated to the city, features Rafal Paczes, Kacper Rucinski, Lukasz “Lotek” Lodkowski, Michal Leja, Janusz Pietruszka, and Adam Van Bendler.
A roast is a form of comedy entertainment popular around the world that originated from stand-up comedy and involves performing biting skits about the people being roasted. Participants in this type of show must have a healthy sense of humor—the main idea behind roasts is to point out and mock each other’s weaknesses.
– The Łódź Stand-up Challenge is the only chance to showcase your comedic skills in front of the biggest names in the Polish stand-up scene. This event is a must for anyone who dreams of performing on the big stage and making an audience of thousands laugh! – announces Maciej Laski, director of the Łódź Event Center.
