Tommy Lefroy is a soft rock project founded by Wynter Bethel and Tesse Mouzourakis. By pairing raw lyrics with dreamy vocals and sharp compositions, the duo uses distorted guitarand piano to crafta sound that is at once intimate, cinematic, and nostalgic.
Following in the footsteps of uninhibited female songwriters like Joni Mitchell and Alanis Morissette, the classic sounds of Fleetwood Mac and Tom Petty, and creative contemporary artists such as Big Thief and Bon Iver, Tommy Lefroy brings out the best in songwriting centered on the primacy of lyrics.
Tommy Lefroy’s first single, “Northern Towns,” is a song that has come full circle. The song began to take shape in Wynter’s kitchen in Los Angeles (the clink of glasses from early vocal notes is still present in the track) and was completed between Tessa’s London apartment and Wynter’s childhood home in northern Michigan.
Their work consists of stories written for each other, for friends, and for the boys who have passed away. They are wrapped in the delicate snow of love and loss, the fierce storms of youth, romantic missteps, and a sense of humor.
