Major investments are on the horizon for Atlas Arena and Widzew’s municipal stadium. And it’s all thanks to the establishment of Holding Łódź
– Atlas Arena and other facilities managed by MAKiS are entering a new phase of development. 2025 and 2026 will be years filled with investments that will enhance spectator comfort, streamline event organization, and reinforce the arena’s role as one of Poland’s most important entertainment venues, ” said Łukasz Goss, president of Holding Łódź. – We are also not forgetting our other facilities, in which we are investing on an ongoing basis. I can assure you that Holding Łódź will do everything in its power to ensure that Atlas Arena, the stadiums, the “Fala” Aquapark, the Łódź Orientarium, and the EXPO Hall become increasingly attractive each year to Łódź residents, tourists, athletes, and the exhibition industry.
– The arena, which has served us for 16 years, is currently undergoing a major modernization process. We are renovating both the public areas and the technical facilities necessary for hosting international events. I’m referring here to both the dressing rooms for performers and the locker rooms for athletes, ” says Maciej Łaski, president of the Municipal Arena of Culture and Sport. – After replacing the hall’s lighting system, it’s time for new multimedia equipment, adapted to international standards for sports and entertainment broadcasts. For the city, this is an opportunity to host more prestigious sporting events, and for spectators, it guarantees high-quality visuals from every seat in the stands.
The most significant investments in Atlas Arena include:
- New mobile bleachers – faster setup and takedown will allow for greater flexibility in organizing a variety of events.
- The Modern Cube —a large-format LED screen suspended above the main stage—will enhance the visibility and visual appeal of performances.
- Sky Bar – an exclusive space on the 4th floor of the arena that combines the comfort of watching events with a dining experience – will allow us to create VIP-level experiences and expand the venue’s offerings.
- Upgrading the ventilation system – ensuring 100% comfort during summer events.
As part of the project, plans also include renovating the backstage area, the coat check, and the main entrance, as well as setting up special booths selling official concert merchandise.
But that’s not the end of the investments MAKiS has planned for its facilities.“We’re planning investments at our other facilities, and we’ll keep you updated on them regularly ,” adds President Łaski. “Today, I can announce that we’re planning to upgrade the match lighting at Widzew’s Municipal Stadium. It will be modern LED lighting that will improve the viewing experience for Widzew matches in the Ekstraklasa. The currently installed lighting does not meet the requirements of television broadcasters, which are in line with the standards set by the Polish Football Association (PZPN), UEFA, and FIFA. In addition, switching to LED lighting will reduce electricity consumption by 30–40%.
These upgrades are made possible by the establishment of Holding Łódź, which brings together four municipal companies: the Municipal Arena of Culture and Sport (MAKiS), the Municipal Zoological Garden – Orientarium ZOO Łódź, Aquapark Fala, and Expo-Łódź. These institutions had previously collaborated on organizing joint events and promotional campaigns. However, the holding company allows them to go a step further—to implement a common business strategy, generate savings, and invest in infrastructure development without placing an additional burden on the city’s budget.
