Speedway Grand Prix Makes Its Debut at Moto Arena Łódź
This Friday, July 31, Moto Arena Łódź will host the Speedway Grand Prix for the first time in its history—the most prestigious series in world speedway, where the best riders compete for the title of individual world champion. Over two days, fans will see the biggest stars of speedway and the world’s top juniors go head-to-head. There will also be a fan zone, a motorcycle parade, and attractions for the whole family.
What is the Speedway Grand Prix?
The Speedway Grand Prix (SGP) is a series of competitions that determines the individual world champion in speedway. The world’s top riders compete in each round, and the points they earn determine the final standings for the season. This year’s round in Łódź will be the seventh installment of the world championship.
When will the competition take place?
The sporting action will kick off on Friday, July 31, with the SGP2 competition—the Under-21 Individual Junior World Championships. The competition is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
On Saturday, August 1, at 1:00 p.m., the qualifying rounds and the sprint will begin, while the main Speedway Grand Prix event will start at 7:00 p.m.
Who will compete for the world championship?
The world's best speedway riders will be coming to Łódź. Bartosz Zmarzlik leads the overall standings and is competing for another world championship title. Brady Kurtz and Robert Lambert are right behind him.
In Friday's SGP2, fans will also see Villads Nagel of H. Skrzydlewska Orzeł Łódź. Marcin Nowak, Szymon Szlauderbach, and Kacper Halkiewicz are also on the reserve lists.
What attractions await the fans?
In addition to the competition, participants can enjoy the Fan Zone, which features attractions for the whole family, a food court, and an autograph session with the athletes.
A motorcycle parade will also wind its way through the streets of Łódź on Saturday. It will start at 1:15 p.m. on Piotrkowska Street and end at Moto Arena, where a fan zone will be opened.
Where can I park during the Speedway Grand Prix?
Fans heading to the Speedway Grand Prix in Łódź can use the parking lot at Atlas Arena by reserving a spot at www.bilety.atlasarena.pl
This is the most convenient way to get to the event—free shuttle buses will run between Atlas Arena and Moto Arena throughout the weekend.
- On Friday (July 31), the buses will run from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- On Saturday (August 1) from 12:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and after the competition ends—from 9:30 p.m. to midnight—with return transportation to the parking lot also provided.
During the event, the parking lot for fans at Moto Arena will not be available; therefore, the organizers encourage you to reserve a parking spot in advance at Atlas Arena and use the provided transportation.
