The announcement comes shortly after the release of Rocky’s fourth studio album, DON’T BE DUMB, which was released last Friday. As Rocky’s first album in nearly eight years, DON’T BE DUMB “not only rewards the wait but adds new nuances to the rapper’s approach—an evolving relationship with melody and a more mature approach to lyrics,” writes Billboard.
The release of DON’T BE DUMB generated unprecedented interest—the album racked up over 1 million pre-saves on Spotify, becoming the hip-hop album with the most pre-saves on the platform. The hype surrounding the release was fueled by Rocky’s exceptional year, during which he starred in two feature films produced by A24— Highest 2 Lowest directed by Spike Lee, and If I Had Legs I’d Kick You directed by Mary Bronstein, which won a Golden Globe. Rocky also served as co-chair of the 2025 Met Gala, was announced as creative director of Ray-Ban, and was named the new ambassador for the fashion house Chanel.
