On August 17, construction work will begin in the area around Atlas Arena to build a technical chamber for the High-Speed Rail tunnel. Traffic patterns will be adjusted, but drivers will still be able to use Bandurski Avenue, and access to Atlas Arena will remain unchanged.
Traffic Changes Effective August 17
The construction of the technical chamber on Bandurskiego Avenue marks the next phase of work on the High-Speed Rail tunnel in Łódź. As a result of this project, traffic patterns in the Atlas Arena area will change.
The most important information for visitors to the site is that traffic on Bandurskiego Avenue will remain open throughout the duration of the construction work. Drivers will use the temporary two-lane roadway set up near the exit from Unii Lubelskiej Avenue.
The ability to enter and exit Unii Lubelskiej Avenue will also remain unchanged, which means that access to Atlas Arena will still be possible.
How do I get to Atlas Arena?
People heading to events at Atlas Arena will still be able to reach the venue by car via Bandurskiego Avenue and Unii Lubelskiej Avenue.
Tram service will also remain unchanged. MPK Łódź trams will operate according to the current schedule.
However, the change will affect pedestrians— the underground pedestrian passage will be closed for the duration of the work.
It’s a good idea, therefore, to plan your route before arriving at the event, taking into account the new traffic arrangements, and to pay attention to the signage in the area where work is being done.
What's being built next to Atlas Arena?
One of the five utility chambers needed for the construction of the High-Speed Rail tunnel will be built in the Atlas Arena area. Work on the facility will begin on Monday, August 17.
The chamber is part of a larger project, one of the most important components of which will be a rail tunnel running beneath Łódź. Tunneling will begin on Maratońska Street near Obywatelska Street.
High-Speed Rail – What Will Łódź Gain?
In the future, the High-Speed Rail Network is expected to significantly improve Łódź’s connections with other cities in Poland and Europe. Faster rail connections mean , above all , shorter travel times, easier access to other cities, and greater accessibility to Łódź for tourists, businesses, and investors.
According to current estimates, the KDP trip from Łódź to Warsaw is expected to take about 40 minutes, to Poznań and Wrocław about an hour, and to Berlin about 4 hours.
For Łódź, this means even better transportation links and the ability to quickly reach the most important cities in Poland and Europe.
Atlas Arena remains open to residents and visitors
The construction work on the High-Speed Rail project is a major infrastructure investment for the city, but it does not mean that access to Atlas Arena will be closed. Both drivers and public transportation passengers will still be able to attend events held at the venue.
