The third edition of the Polish Handball Super Cup is fast approaching. On Saturday, August 29, fans at Atlas Arena will see two matches featuring the country’s top women’s and men’s teams. This year’s edition promises to be exceptional, thanks in part to high-profile transfers that will bring players to Łódź with experience gained in the Champions League, on national teams, and on Europe’s most prestigious courts.
Two games for the trophy
The competition will begin at 3:00 p.m., when the reigning Polish champions and Polish Cup winners— KGHM Zagłębie Lubin—take the court. Their opponents will be the national runners-up— PGE MKS El-Volt Lublin, the most successful club in the history of Polish women’s handball.
At 7:00 p.m., the reigning Polish champions and defending champions— Industria Kielce —will face off against the Polish Cup winner— ORLEN Wisła Płock—for the Polish Men’s Super Cup. For years, this has been one of the most anticipated matches in Polish handball.
World champion and member of the Danish national team
KGHM Zagłębie Lubin has added Nalidiatou Niakate —a world, European, and Olympic champion—to its roster. The French setter has previously played for teams including Brest BH, CSM Bucharest, Budućnost Podgorica, and Nykøbing FH. Laura Hernandez and Emilia Galińska, who have experience in European cup competitions, have also joined the team.
PGE MKS El-Volt Lublin responded by signing Danish national team player Sarah Paulsen, one of the top setter in the Danish league and the 2024 Kvindeligaen scoring leader. The team was also bolstered by six additional players, including national team members from Poland, Brazil, and Montenegro.
Big Names in Kielce and Płock
One of the most talked-about transfers of the summer is Dejan Milosavljev’s move to Industria Kielce. The Serbian goalkeeper played for Füchse Berlin for seven seasons, winning the German championship and reaching the Champions League final twice. Previously, he had won the competition with Vardar Skopje.
The Kielce team has undergone its biggest roster overhaul in years, signing players such as Julien Bos, Luka Klarica, Faruk Yusuf, Kiryl Rabczyński, and Milorad Bakic, among others.
ORLEN Wisła Płock has also been active in the transfer market. The new defensive leader is Oriol Rey Morales of Spain, considered one of the best defenders in both the Macedonian and Spanish leagues. Milan Vujović and club product Maksym Matyszczyk have also joined the team.
Plenty of attractions at the Super Cup Park Fan Zone
The Polish Super Cup isn’t just two top-level matches—it also features a range of other attractions that will be waiting for fans on August 29. These include multimedia shows, the chance to meet handball legends, a special Super Cup Park Fan Zone with handball courts, a wide variety of food and drink options, and attractions for both children and adults. There will also be contests with prizes and charity initiatives. Just as in 2025, the upcoming edition of the Polish Super Cup is set to be a celebration and the biggest club handball event of 2026 in our country.

On August 29, Atlas Arena will once again host the most important event in Polish club handball. Fans will get to see the country’s best teams, as well as some of the world’s top players.
