Wednesday, June 19 – Women’s Polish Cup Final

The Women's Polish Cup Final in Łódź

On June 19, the Women’s Polish Cup final will be held for the 35th time in history. Czarni Sosnowiec and Medyk Konin will face off against each other.

Both teams have the most wins in the Polish Women’s Cup. Czarne have won the title eleven times, while Medyk has won it eight times.

This time, luck smiled on the Sosnowiec team first. Grzegorz Majewski’s squad defeated UKS SMS Łódź in the semifinals. Both teams showed grit, and the match was fiercely contested; until the fifth minute of stoppage time, the Łódź team was closer to a major victory. Ultimately, the tournament was decided in a penalty shootout, in which the team from Sosnowiec proved to be the better side. The 5-4 victory was secured by goalkeeper Anna Szymanska, who stepped up to take the final kick and beat her counterpart, Danuta Paturaj.

Medyk Konin has returned to the final after a one-year hiatus. Roman Jaszczak’s team defeated the defending champions and Ekstraliga leaders, Górnik Leczna, on their home turf, winning 2–1.

We’ll find out which team will win the Polish Cup on Wednesday, June 19, at 6:00 p.m. at the Municipal Stadium at 2 Unii Lubelskiej Avenue in Łódź. The final will be broadcast on Polsat Sport.
