The Polish Handball Super Cup is coming up on August 29! Łódź will once again become the capital of Polish handball
On August 10, a press conference announcing the third edition of the Polish Handball Super Cup was held at the Small Jazz Market in Manufaktura. On August 29, Poland’s top teams will compete for the trophy at Łódź’s Atlas Arena.
The press conference was divided into two parts. In the first part, the following speakers took the floor: Hanna Zdanowska —Mayor of Łódź, Joanna Skrzydlewska —Marshal of the Łódź Province, Adam Wieczorek —Vice Mayor of Łódź—and Piotr Należyty —President of Superliga sp. z o. o. During the press conference, details were presented regarding this year’s Polish Super Cup, scheduled for August. The second part of the conference featured the players who will compete for the trophy on August 29: Kinga Jakubowska of KGHM Zagłębie Lubin, Sylwia Matuszczyk-Bulik of PGE MKS El-Volt Lublin, Szymon Sićko of Industria Kielce, and Michał Daszek of ORLEN Wisła Płock.
– I’m very happy that, for the third time, Łódź will host the Polish Handball Super Cup. This shows that our city is now a trusted partner for the country’s biggest sporting events and a place to which organizers are eager to return. On August 29, Atlas Arena will once again become the capital of Polish handball. We’ll see two top-level matches—both women’s and men’s. It will be a true celebration of sports, full of excitement, competition, and a wonderful atmosphere. I am also particularly pleased that this event is combined with the record-breaking Anilana Cup Super Cup tournament. Nearly 1,650 young players from 110 teams in Poland and abroad will come to Łódź. For many of them, this will not only be an opportunity to compete, but also a chance to see their idols up close and experience the atmosphere of a major event,” says Hanna Zdanowska, Mayor of Łódź.

The Łódź Province has been supporting sports for years, because we know that major events aren’t just about the excitement in the stands, but also serve as an inspiration for young people and are an important part of promoting the region. Handball has a strong tradition in our province, and many outstanding players are associated with Łódź clubs. We want to nurture these traditions while also creating the conditions for future generations to develop their athletic talents. That is why hosting the Polish Super Cup in Łódź is important to us. This event demonstrates that our region is ready to host top-level sporting events and that we are capable of creating the right conditions for them, ” said Joanna Skrzydlewska, Marshal of the Łódź Province.
Two top-level matches
– From the very beginning, we wanted the Polish Super Cup to be much more than just two matches for the trophy. We’ve created a true celebration of Polish handball that brings our entire community together in one place—the best female and male players, youth, coaches, referees, officials, legends of the sport, and, above all, the fans. At Atlas Arena, we’ll see world-class players who compete daily in European leagues and on national teams. In front of the arena, the Superpuchar Park Fan Zone will be set up, featuring 1-on-1 courts, areas dedicated to our partners, and attractions for the whole family. We also want to honor those who have made their mark on the history of our sport, which is why the Super Cup will feature the biography of Zygfryd Kuchta, an outstanding Polish national team player, Olympic medalist, and a figure with exceptionally strong ties to Łódź. The scale of the project’s growth is best illustrated by the record-breaking Anilana Cup Super Cup, which will feature nearly 1,650 young players. In addition, there will be numerous events surrounding the main tournament, including conferences, training sessions, and meetings of handball community representatives. “We’re already approaching 5,000 sold-out seats in the arena, which shows that fans are eagerly awaiting this event,” adds Piotr Należyty, President of Superliga sp. z o.o.
In the first match, at 3:00 p.m., the reigning Polish champions and Polish Cup winners— KGHM Zagłębie Lubin—will take the court. Facing off against the “Copper Girls” will be the Polish runners-up— PGE MKS El-Volt Lublin, the most successful club in the history of Polish women’s handball, boasting as many as 22 national championship titles. This clash between two powerhouses of women’s handball promises to be thrilling from the very first whistle.
At 7:00 p.m., the giants will clash in the Polish Men’s Super Cup match. The current Polish champions and defending champions— Industria Kielce, the most successful club in the history of Polish handball with 21 national championships and a Champions League title to its credit—will take to the court. Their opponent will be the Polish Cup winner, ORLEN Wisła Płock, which has nine national championship titles to its name. For years, these matches have electrified the entire Polish sports world and are synonymous with world-class competition, featuring a fierce battle for every goal right down to the last second.
With less than 3 weeks to go before the event, nearly 5,000 tickets have been sold. The Polish Super Cup is set to be the biggest event of the season in Polish club handball.
Plenty of attractions at the Super Cup Park Fan Zone
The Polish Super Cup isn’t just two top-level matches—it also features a range of other attractions that will be waiting for fans on August 29. These include multimedia shows, the chance to meet handball legends, a special Super Cup Park Fan Zone with handball courts, a wide variety of food and drink options, and attractions for both children and adults. There will also be contests with prizes and charity initiatives. Just as in 2025, the upcoming edition of the Polish Super Cup is set to be a celebration and the biggest club handball event of 2026 in our country.

Following the press conference, a training session for children was held under the guidance of the players. The participants enjoyed special activities, numerous contests, a mini handball tournament featuring one-on-one matches, and the chance to test their accuracy at the shooting goal.
